My people, no be lie! After plenty wahala and government wey no fit do anything, the Federal Government don finally set April 28 as date to complete major work for Enugu–Onitsha Expressway. Na Minister of Works, David Umahi, talk am after e check the road as work dey go on well thanks to MTN Nigeria and dem subcontractors.
As e be, this road na like journey to hell for many years! Na because of the smart plan wey President Bola Ahmed Tinubu get for South-East, dis road wey dey cause plenty palava dey finally see light. Umahi talk say, “Previous governments no touch dis road, but e go better now because President Tinubu dey do wetin dem no fit do.” Na serious matter.
The expressway dey stretch for about 107 kilometres go link Enugu and Anambra states, and na MTN Nigeria get am under Federal Government tax-credit scheme, wey no be small change – N202 billion! Umahi also talk say dem don even complete work wey worth N50 billion before economy start to shake because of naira wahala and subsidy removal. No be small thing o!
As we dey talk, about 72 kilometres of this road dey under construction across four sections. Some areas, like the ones wey dem dey put reinforced concrete, na big work dem dey do am. Umahi dey optimistic say in two weeks, dem go finish the first 15-kilometre stretch. “We go only leave the shoulders to complete,” he shout.
And make I shock you, dem dey plan to put solar streetlights along the road to make everywhere shine like say na disco! But road too dey get different faces; some sections dey require asphalt while others dey need concrete. Umahi talk say dem dey rearrange the work so that the more damaged areas go fit receive attention first.
Umahi no forget to give kudos to MTN and dem partners, Nigercat and RCC, dey dey do the work well. But e also talk say dem get some issues wey dem go need correct. E sharp!
With this new development, the Minister dey very sure say the wahala wey drivers and residents dey face go soon end. Hope don return for South-East, and e suppose make everybody dey appreciate wetin President Tinubu dey try do.
As we dey follow dis matter, Umahi don also announce say dem don ban mining activities near bridges to protect the roads. Patrol boats go dey check the bridges, and dem go get operational vehicles for police to monitor highway. Na serious security matter wey dem don talk, and Umahi no wan make anywhere run down again!
So, my people, keep your ear to the ground as we dey watch how this road wahala dey unfold. Na big victory for the area, and all thanks to Tinubu’s plan. If you be driver, just know say good days dey come!
