According to new report wey Google and Ipsos drop, Nigerians dey embrace AI like say tomorrow no dey. Naija no dey follow back, we dey lead di pack as e concern how we dey use AI for learning, work, and entrepreneurship.
Taiwo Kola-Ogunlade, wey be Google’s Communications and Public Affairs Manager for West Africa, talk say about 88% of adults for Naija don yan with AI chatbot. Na serious jump from 2024 oh! E mean say people no just dey use am, dem dey run am like dem dey play FIFA. Globally, na just 62% wey dey use AI like that. Na real Naija spirit wey dey pushing us forward.
Dis report wey dem titled “Our Life with AI: Helpfulness in the Hands of More People,” show say Nigerians dey optimistic about AI future like person wey just win lottery. Kola-Ogunlade come talk say about 93% of our people dey use AI to understand complex topics, compare to 74% worldwide. Naija, we don set our own bar high, no be small tin oh!
And no be only for book matter dem dey use AI. E get people wey dey use AI to assist with their work, wey na 91%. For business matter again, about 80% dey use AI to check new career opportunities or business ideas, wey be like double global average. Na refreshing news, abi? Dis one dey show say we no just dey look for free money, we dey chase innovation!
For education, Nigerian don see AI like small god, as e dey help plenty students and teachers. 91% believe say AI dey help the way we dey learn and access information, compared to just 65% for the rest of di globe. Even university students, wey 95% believe say dem go benefit from AI. Na for real! Naija don sabi how AI fit change education game.
Ah! But wait! E get some people wey dey worry small about AI. Dat side wey dem dey fear say AI fit take over their jobs if dem no careful. True talk, we no fit ignore dat one. E fit reduce jobs for routine work, especially for sectors like farming or local banks wey don dey use AI chatbots. But make I yarn today, no be all stories be bad. AI dey create new jobs too!
