Omo, Lagos no get small wahala as e dey rain fire and brimstone for environmental matter. If you no sabi wetin dey happen, make I tell you say, managing Lagos environment no be joke at all; na serious matter wey dey involve plenty gbege!
Dem talk say flood don turn major problem for Lagos, as rain dey fall, everywhere don dey turn swimming pool. I mean, this flooding matter na wetin dey make people dey vex wella! E no dey spare anybody—rich, poor, everybody dey collect.
But the wahala wey come with this flood be say, when government start to demolish houses wey dey block drainage, wahala just dey burst everywhere! Community people go dey chop anger for dem government body, because of their homes wey dem just waka come down. E no dey nice at all.
Just last week, for Oworonsoki waterfront, people don gather protest as buildings wey dem don dey live for ages just disappear before dem eye. Na so dem government dey yan say, ‘No be our fault o, una house dey block our water way.’ Na so the gbege dey continue, with nobody wan hear wetin the other person dey talk!
And no be only flooding wahala dey here. Waste dey everywhere like say na fashion show wey dey happen. People dey blame government when flood show face, but when dem want enforce waste code, na so everywhere go dey red with wahala. Street trading matter sef dey join body, as people go block road, and wahala go turn traffic jam! Any law wey dem wan enforce, pipo go call am cruelty.
And e no stop for there, my friend! Street children dey waka inside this Lagos wahala too. Dem dey talk say this matter don turn serious one. Some children wey never even reach secondary school, dem dey collect bad life wey go turn dem into gang leaders for future if we no act fast. Na Tokunbo Wahab, the commissioner for Environment, come post video wey show them for Lekki road with police dey pack them like say they no get human feelings. People don dey shout everywhere!
We don reach level wey the government need to show CORRECT response, not just enforcement. As e be so, dem need to set up program to help these small pikin wey dey face this wahala. If dem no do am well, the wahala go come back, and we no go fit carry the whole matter like play anymore.
People wey dey use tax pay for government need to see wetin dem dey get in return. Make we stop dey act like say we dey surprised anytime this matter show face; e don dey clear say every child wey dem neglect today go turn some form of wahala tomorrow. Wetin we need na action wey go join our hand together to fix this thing. If not, wahala go full ground!
