ADC Don Talk Say Naija Need Clarity for US Health Deal

Na wah! African Democratic Congress (ADC) don hammer say make Federal Government clear wetin dey happen for dat Naija-United States health cooperation wahala. Dem dey worry say some provisions inside na Christian-based matter fit spoil wetin we dey call constitutional guarantees, transparency, and our national sovereignty. E be like say dem wan turn health matter to religion palava.

ADC National Publicity Secretary, Bolaji Abdullahi, come drop statement on Sunday wey show say dem support foreign aid to make our health system strong. But dem insist say any partnership gatz respect our diversity and make sure no be only one religion dey chop the koko.

Last December, US sign MoU of five years wey be $5.1 billion to help Naija health system. But some details for dat agreement dey raise questions, as e cut across Christian faith-based healthcare providers wey go help deliver medical services for areas wey need am pass. Na about $200 million dey go for 900 Christian clinics and hospitals, talk say make dem better their services.

ADC no gree keep quiet as dem don dey talk to Federal Government make dem no sign agreement wey fit divide Naija or komot our constitutional principles. Although the Federal Government dey paint the MoU as technical and inclusive, ADC argue say American side dey show matter in different light. Dem dey talk say spending gatz dey focus on health institutions wey dey follow one particular religion. Wetin be dis na?

ADC don make am clear say this matter no be just communication wahala; e get as e be. Dem talk say Nigerians deserve to sabi wetin dey inside the agreement wey dem sign, and wetin be the difference wey dey between wetin Abuja dey talk and wetin Washington dey yan. Dem still shine eye on how this agreement dey respect our constitution wey no gree allow discrimination based on religion or ethnicity.

Na wetin dem reason be this: Section 42(1) wey protect Nigerians from discrimination, plus Sections 15 and 17 wey dey urge the state to promote national integration. ADC dey yan say how fit Nigeria dey carry big financial burden of $3 billion domestic financing plus $2 billion grant wey US dey bring, and at the same time, decision-making fit dey outside the country?

Healthcare na public good wey gatz dey neutral, inclusive, and open for everybody. If dem begin add identity matter to health financing, na so politicization go enter matter, and e fit spoil trust wey the public get for healthcare. Dem dey beg Federal Government to drop the full text of the MoU make e clear for all of us wetin dey ground.

ADC dey call for transparency make dem explain how dis agreement align with our Constitution and wetin we fit talk as Nigerians about our public policy. Na wetin dey under the surface be this, my people. Omo Naija, make we dey shine our eye well well!
