Wetin dey happen for Malibu? Na one year since the Palisades Fire do strong gbege!
Last week, City of Malibu gather for City Hall do Palisades Fire Remembrance event. Dem come gather to honor those wey we lost and those wey suffer for the wahala wey the fire cause. You no go believe say over 700 structures wey dey inside this fire wahala don scatter and plenty families don loss their homes.
For the event, e no be only tears wey dem dey shed. Na moment of strength and togetherness dem come flex. People wey dey attend, dem sit down, reflect, and connect as community. Everything wey happen get as e be, from the Senior Center Choir wey sing sweet song, to the poet Charlotte Ward wey recite poem wey touch heart like water.
Mayor Marianne Riggins plus other big people like Senator Ben Allen and LA County Supervisor Lindsey Horvath come stand dey talk encouraging words, reminding everybody sey “together, we fit heal.” People dey show say despite the pain, na unity go bring dem together.
Dem gree say this fire no go fit break their spirit o! Community members don gather together come work on crocheted art tribute wey dey for lower entrance of City Hall. Na solidarity wey dey show the community heartbeat, say “we dey here for you.”
So, as the community dey gather dey remember, dem also dey prepare for better future wey no go carry wahala come. Na the test of resilience and love for each other be this. As dem dey look the past with sorrow, dem still dey forge ahead with hope, wey no go ever die.
