Wreaths don dey laid, and as dem dey blow Last Post tune, everybody stand still, e be like say dem dey feel the spirits of our heroes wey don pass on. Na usual, prayers don follow to beg for protection for our active soldiers.
For Abuja, na around 10:35 am as e dey be, the Vice President join other dignitaries like Senate President Godswill Akpabio and Chief of Defence Staff Gen. Olufemi Oluyede don lay wreaths. After that, dem fire three volleys to show respect. Na good way to remember these people wey dey give dem life for our protection!
Minister of Defence Gen. Christopher Musa (retd) talk say, “We must always appreciate those wey don sacrifice for us. E no be only for people wey don go, but also for those wey still dey fight, so that we go continue dey show love and support for dem.”
For states like Ondo and Cross River, governors don pledge say dem go support widows of fallen heroes, as dem clear say e no easy at all for dem. Gov. Lucky Aiyedatiwa even talk say, “We go always dey there for una.”
Di hustle no end there oh! For Delta and Ogun states, dem dey promise better welfare for our military and their families. Dis na the kind action wey we need to make sure say dem know we value their sacrifice.
But no be only respect dem dey talk for this celebration o! Some people dey vex for President Tinubu wey no show face, as dem talk say e no good for the Commander-in-Chief to abadon the event wey suppose show solidarity with our soldiers.
The African Democratic Congress yan say, “E go better make leaders dey show groove wey go reflect wetin dem dey do as dem dey lead.” Nobody wan hear say dem dey manage our security matter like sey e be child’s play.
Even as some governors dey encourage our military officers to remain neutral, no go dey for any coup like their counterpart for West Africa, dem also dey push for national unity and peace. Dis na the message wey go carry us forward! Our security no be joke.
Na so we dey celebrate the courage and bravery of our soldiers. Make we never forget say na dem ensure say we fit sleep with both eyes closed. We go continue dey honour dem for the sacrifices wey dem dey make.
