My people, e don clear say cancer no be small matter wey we suppose avoid for Naija. Many pipo dey suffer silently dis disease wey dey kill dem and dem no even sabi wetin dey happen. Early detection na di koko o! When you catch am for early stage, treatment go dey easy and life go dey safe, but dem dey keep mouth shut, and that silence na wetin dey kill more pipo.
As I dey talk to una now, one person wey don turn this wahala into work na Ifeshinachi Ayogu wey don enter PhD program for Communication way dey tackle cancer for Naija. This her waka no be play matter. As former public relations officer, she don shift gears to address cancer through di way wey we dey tell pipo about am.
She don dey work on better initiatives wey go help dem sabi early symptoms and where to go if dem notice any sign. For Enugu State, she don see how pipo dey die from breast and prostate cancer wey dem no talk about. Imagine person go hospital for treatment when di disease don don run am race already!
Ifeshinachi don set up project wey call Victoria Pink Project, wey go dey carry cancer info enter churches, markets, and even community gatherings. She no wan make only doctors dey talk about cancer. She believe say family and community go fit help make awareness spread run faster! No be say dem no get treatment, but make dem know wetin dey happen and how to catch am early.
As she dey push dis agenda, she still dey focus on how we fit tackle di stigma wey dey chase pipo away from talking about cancer. Na today dem go dey hide because dem no wan face mockery or shame, but Ifeshinachi dey show say na communication na im fit change dat story. Pipo go fit talk about how to manage their health without fear.
She believe say cancer discussion need correct message wey go reach di grassroots level. With the right information, many lives fit change for better. As Nigeria dey struggle with high cancer rates, we need to make this conversation normal. Early detection, no be joke o! If you no sabi wetin to look out for, wetin you fit do? So, this one na call to action my people; make we start to dey talk now.
Because, at di end of di day, if we no shine our eyes early, e fit cost us more than just treatment. We fit lose our loved ones. Make dis message carry ground. Everybody for Naija need to dey informed and engaged. No more silence on cancer!
