Naija Youth Farmers Dey Get Skills for Better Agriculture

My people, hear dis one wey dey happen for Kogi State! Federal Government don set ground for some serious farming skills training for 20 selected youth farmers. Dem dey partner with International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD) go make sure say dem farmers sabi wetin dem wan do!

Di training go last for three weeks, and na serious matter as e go focus on cassava and rice value chains. Na Kogi VCDP dey carry the flag wey shine for this training, plus dem dey waka together with Nigeria-Korean Institute of Vocational and Advanced Technology. No be small ting o!

For di flag-off ceremony wey happen on Wednesday for Lokoja, di State Commissioner for Agriculture, Hon. Timothy Ojomah, gather everybody to congratulate di participants. E talk say dem no dey represent only demself, but dem dey represent their whole community. He talk true when e say, “To whom much is given, much is expected.” Na reality dis o!

Di Commissioner also yan say this initiative dey align with Governor Ahmed Ododo’s vision to empower youth plus boost food security for di state. He no forget to hail di State Project Coordinator, Dr Stella Adejoh and her team wey dey work hard to improve farmers’ lives for Kogi.

As e dey sweet am, Ojomah talk say di participants gatz focus well on di skills dem go learn, so e fit benefit dem, their families, and di whole community. E reassure dem say Governor Ododo dey ready to support dem to improve their way of life.

Dr Stella Adejoh, di SPC, even add say di main goal of di program na to empower youth so dem fit contribute to food security. She yarn say dem go teach dem how to fabricate simple farming tools wey go help them with cassava and rice production. E clear say dis na di second phase of di training, and dem don pick 20 young ones from five local government areas: Ajaokuta, Kabba-Bunu, Ibaji, Lokoja, and Olamaboro.

“We expect say di participants go carry dem knowledge back to dia communities, so life go soft for farmers,” she talk sweet. As dem finish di training, dem go receive starter packs to help dem spread di knowledge further. Na so e be!

Dr Adejoh com praise Governor Ahmed Ododo again for him constant support wey help make this program shine for di farmers’ benefit. Di Managing Director of Kogi State Agriculture Development Programme, Dr Bello George Ogirima, also carry him mouth come talk say mechanisation for agriculture dey important and him praise di governor too. Collaboration na di keyword wey dem dey emphasize, as dem want continue to work with various stakeholders to improve food security.

Even NKFI Rector, Dr Charles Oluwatoyin Williams, don hail di partnership wey dey happen, say na win-win for Kogi State. E don promise say di training go dey top-notch, and e urge di participants to soak up di knowledge wey dem go learn. Wetin we go dey learn? Welding, fabrication of farm equipment, and plenty more!

Some participants like Sefiat Yusuf from Ajaokuta and Lewis Oguche from Ibaji don already thank di FGN/IFAD-VCDP for di opportunity and dem get mouth say dem go use di training wey dem go gain make sense.
