Government Don Finally Gree With ASUU, Wahala Don End!

No be small matter, my people! Federal Government don finally come together with ASUU after long wahala wey dey affect our universities. Dis new agreement na wetin dem don negotiate since 2017, but e don take plenty time before dem fit shake hands.

The wahala start from around 2009 when dem sign di first agreement, wey supposed don finish for 2012. But plenty committees wey dem don set up before, like Wale Babalakin and Nimi Briggs dem, no fit reach any conclusion. Na dis new administration come bring fresh air as dem set up di Yayale Ahmed renegotiation committee last year. After 14 months of plenty talk and na dem finally gree.

Di Minister of Education, Dr Tunji Alausa, come talk for Abuja on Wednesday say dis agreement na sign of new commitment from President Bola Tinubu to make di academic calendar dey flow like correct river. According to am, dis deal no just be paper matter, but na wetin go show renewed trust and confidence for our education system.

Dem don talk plenty things about di agreement, like better pay for university lecturers wey go start from January 1, 2026. Dem go increase salary by 40% to make sure dem still dey work well and no go carry dem brain come out for abroad. Di new arrangement go include wetin dem call Consolidated University Academic Staff Salary plus Academic Tools Allowance. Everything wey concern journal publication, conference wey dem fit attend, internet access and plenty others go dey inside di allowance.

Big gist wey sweet my belle be say dem don introduce new Professorial Cadre Allowance, wey go make full-time Professors and Readers dey smile for bank. For di first time, Professors go dey collect ₦1.74m for one year, wey mean say dem go fit chop ₦140,000 every month. Readers, on top their own side, go dey earn ₦840,000 per annum or ₦70,000 monthly. Na real big money be dat!

Dr. Alausa talk say dis agreement no be small correction, but real structure and change wey go make education for Nigeria better. He talk say dis na new era for our universities, bring stability and better future for students, lecturers and whole country. E even thank people wey don dey work on di negotiation and believe say history go remember dis day as di day wey Nigeria choose better way to handle wahala.

As e be now, we dey hope say di government go carry out di agreement well-well under di Renewed Hope Agenda make everywhere dey shine for education sector. Na im be our prayer say dem go take time to solve dis long-standing challenge, and as dem don talk am, already history don begin to be written.
