No be small wahala o! Residents of 15 communities for Abeokuta don gather gidigba dey protest as Ogun State Government wan demolish deres ancestral homes. Na Monday wey dem carry placards go Oke Mosan, dey shout for Gov. Dapo Abiodun say make e no allow dem destroy their houses.
Dey talk say this land don dey pass their family for over 300 years, and dem no gree say government fit just come claim am anyhow. Dem don also dey in court over this matter, so as e be now, the residents dey vex well well.
One of dem, Sakirullahi Bodude wey be head of Ogunro community, yarn say dem no go gree make dem kick dem out. E talk say, “We come here to beg Gov. Abiodun make e no carry bulldozer come start demolition. This place na our papa land. We sabi say we dey court and no be wetin dey before court suppose happen like this.”
As the protest dey happen, Folasade Omotayo, wey also dey live for the area, come express her own side say, “Our elders dey suffer for this situation. This land na where we dey farm, if dem blow our houses, wetin we go do? We no get anywhere to go, and we don dey fear say at any time bulldozer go just land for our heads.”
Even the Baale of Itori Mogan, Oludare Salako, don talk say dem dey jand for people wey dey threaten dem with demolition. E lament say people don dey scatter dem lives before with the last administration and now this new one wan do same thing. “No be fair at all. We de ask Gov. Abiodun make e no allow omonile or anybody turn us to refugees. Our homes don dey here before dem even born we,” e talk.
For the protest ground, the Commissioner for Urban and Physical Planning, Tunji Odunlami, come talk say dem go look into the matter. E say, “We go try see wetin we fit do, we sabi say dem dey suffer. But, e get rules wey we dey follow, and anybody wey wan build for Ogun State suppose get approval first. We no fit just dey allow any building on land wey government don claim before.”
But residents no go gree make dem just carry their sweat away like that. E be like say dis level don dey unfold like drama for Abeokuta, and we go dey watch as the matter dey unfold. Na who go speak for dem wey dey suffer?
