So, Lagos State Government don scatter ground with new system wey dem dey call revenue-sharing. E go change how dem dey collect money from developers wey wan build for waterfront. Before, if dem see land wey fine, developers go just clear am pay one fat amount and boom! Government dey think say dem don hammer. But now, things don dey change!
Dayo Alebiosu, the Commissioner for Waterfront Infrastructure Development, dem don talk am clear say dem go dey collect small-small administrative fees instead of one wahala payment wey no go carry much weight for developers. “We notice say after developer clear land and pay like N5 billion, later, we go find out say small-small space for that land fit sell for N9 billion. Na better dey wey we need!” e talk.
He explain further say the new arrangement go make sense for everybody. “As developers dey collect money, Lagos go dey chop some small change from the profits. This one go make everywhere dey busy! The more work dem do, the more we fit provide better road, housing, and jetties for our people.”
For 2025, dem don bring plenty innovations, including the floating pontoons wey dem use for jetties. E don dey show promise for places like Agboyi-Ketu and six other locations. Dem fit last long and help resolve some wahala wey dey ground.
Also, dem gree yan about projects wey dey come like Odogun Waterfront and Oworonshoki Waterfront. These projects no be small matter, as dem go bring plenty houses wey go house about 4,000 units. Imagine how business go dey boom when dem start!
Alebiosu carry on, say this projects no go just change the life of the people, e go give work to artisans, food vendors and other people wey dey for that side. E mean say the whole community go dey vibrant! ”Once we start to build, na so the economy go dey chop better!”
The current government don really dey keen about making sure sabi say this new revenue-sharing model go give Lagos beta future. When dem bring good infrastructure, everybody go benefit as life go dey sweet! Na as the state dey plan for the 2026 budget, dem dey hopeful sey as the islands dey yield money, na so Lagos go dey enjoy!
