Chai! Na wah oh! Naija media legend, Sir Steve Omojafor don reach 80 years, and e no dey dull for him matter. This veteran wey don waka for both journalism and advertising, talk plenty about him journey for Society Plus interview wey just drop.
Omojafor start him career as reporter for Daily Times of Nigeria after him graduate from University of Lagos, Akoka. Back then, na serious hustle for newsroom. E remember how dem dey scrutinize stories like hawk. “Reporters dey bring all sorts, some correct, some just dey form jaga-jaga. Na our work to make sure say story no dey waka anyhow,” e yarn.
He dey talk say e spend like two years for Daily Times, and no be money wey carry dem go work but more about passion and the love for di game. “Transportation no dey hard, and life no dey pepper dem too much. Money? E no be wahala,” he gree. But wetin con make am leave na d politics wey dey happen for inside and outside di newsroom after military take over.
“Di politics don dey distract my focus, and I no wan make am enter my career too early,” Omojafor talk as e move go Lintas Advertising. Na there, e dey sharpen im pen for commercial communication, wey later carry am go co-found Rosabel Advertising Limited for 1978. E chill say even though family no support plus no loan from bank, hard work and dedication make am succeed.
He no stop there oh! E go later set up STB McCann and even retire, pass leadership to fresh blood. “I believe say agency owners suppose step aside make fresh ideas come in,” na im talk. For di recognition matter, Omojafor no dey sleep on top his laurels. Him don collect Knighthood from Catholic Church and national honour from past President Goodluck Jonathan. Wisdom wey dey flow from him mouth, na to talk say contentment matter no be small. “Na so society dey suffer now, because we no sabi how to dey content,” he yarn.

Now wey him don clock 80, him dey feel sey e don live full life. “I dey happy. I don do my small part, and I dey grateful,” him conclude.
