Na the Chairman of the Governing Council of the Government College Ibadan Old Boys Association (GCIOBA), Femi Babalola, give correct kudos to Governor Seyi Makinde for him policy wey dey allow public schools for Oyo State to shine again. Na during the presentation of brand-new GAC GS3 black SUV to the new principal, Mr. Gbemi Oresegun, for the school premises, the matter take play.

As e be, Government College Ibadan no be small school. E don dey shine since 1929 when British people sabi open am. This school don carry ground for academic excellence, and their alumni dem dey scatter for everywhere! From engineers wey plenty for Nigerian Society of Engineers to one brain wey don collect Nobel Prize, dem dey produce better pipo wey dey make Naija proud.

But no be every time dem dey shine. As dem government waka come take over for 1979, the school come dey suffer small-small. But thank God say the Old Boys Association strong well well! Dem don come gather together with the government to manage the school. Na so Babalola talk say dem don agree to run this school together and make am better.

“The Oyo State Government don concession the administration of Government College Ibadan, and na this spirit dey move us. We don appoint new principal wey go run the school well for the government and the Old Boys Association,” na wetin Babalola yarn. Na him also talk say as the new principal, Oresegun go need better tools to deliver. So, dem don package this new car for am so that e fit carry out him duties without wahala.

Mr. Oresegun wey don experience for this matter, as e don been dey manage private schools for Lagos, Edo, and everywhere, come show gratitude when dem present am the car. “I gree with joy for this car wey una give me. Na sign say una get confidence for me as principal. I go make sure say all our students excel. My priority na to ensure say everybody dey work together—the government, old boys, students, and parents,” na wetin e talk.
