My people, e be like say democracy for Nigeria dey catch wahala! You hear wetin happen for Kwara State? Late December, women wey de protest about kidnappers, dem gather for Government House, but dem no sabi say wahala go come. Na so some thugs wey dem no sabi where dem come from come begin dey flog these innocent women like say dem be punching bag.
As dem dey raise their voice say ‘we no gree again,’ na so camera catch one elderly woman wey dey cry, arms dey up as she dey lament. Instead of police to intervene, dem just dey look like say dem wan watch match. This one no just make sense at all!
Na only for Nigeria you go see say women wey dey shout for their right go turn to target for beating. Who dem go flog next? The protest no be crime jor. How we wan take improve governance if we no fit talk? All this wahala fit no follow for another country where people fit protest without fear.
Kwara State don turn hot spot for banditry. If you dey live for Ifelodun or Isin, e be like say you dey play hide and seek with kidnappers! As dem dey kidnap monarchs and church people for inside service, how you wan expect our people to rest? Just recently, dem abduct one traditional ruler and him son for palace. People dey run from their homes, as fear don scatter their hearts.
As the protests dey happen, video evidence and eyewitness dey show how thugs dey chase and beat women, dey tear their placards as if dem no get sense. Na wetin be this? If government fit protect pro-govment waka, why dem no fit protect citizens wey protest for better governance?
We fit remember the #EndSARS matter. When youths dey shout for their rights, na bullets dem give dem. This recent one for Kwara na just continuation. How many people go die before the government go open eye? Insecurity dey everywhere, and e dey clear say no be good plan dey for how to tackle this wahala.
Gowon Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq, as you don shout say you dey condemn wetin happen, make you do am well. Make dem investigate this matter seriously. We no need more words, we need action! Thugs no suppose be the ones wey go dey run show for our streets; na the government and police suppose dey do their work.
Na time to wake up be this! If you no fit handle protests well and people dey fear to talk, wetin be this democracy wey we dey talk about? Federal Government, no only talk, make una do wetin necessary to secure our people. We want to see change, not just wetin una dey promise us.
The cries of those women no suppose fall on deaf ears. If una no fit hear them today, tomorrow go come with sharper wahala. Kwara women and their plight na everybody’s business. Dey must be protected, and their voices must be heard!
