Chai! Na wah ooo, big matter wey don dey happen for Jigawa State. As e be now, dem don sentence one rapist, Abubakar Muhd wey people dey call Akuya, to death by hanging. E no just end there, dem also order am to pay Five Million Naira (N5M) to the 15-year-old boy wey e rape.
This matter don dey since March 2022, but na only now dem don fit prosecute am. The trial gather dust for corner because dem need extra evidence and witness matter wey no come easy. At first, dem classify am as sodomy case, but with the new VAPP Law wey Jigawa State don carry come, dem reclassify am to ‘rape’ because the law don broaden wetin dem fit call rape.
So, as the presiding judge, Hon. Justice Ado Yusif Birnin-kudu, don talk, e confirm say Muhd guilty of raping the boy wey dey from Nomi Village for Taura Local Government Area. The judge follow talk say the convict do am contrary to Section 3(1) a&b of the VAPP Law. Na so dem sentence am to death by hanging, and make e pay that N5M to the victim.
The prosecution lawyer, Barr. Yahaya Abdullahi, no carry mouth dey shy as e talk say this judgment na correct one wey go fit discourage others wey dey think say dem fit carry dem eye for such matter. E also praise the court for dem steady focus on justice for citizens.

E come reassure the public say the state government dey serious for this VAPP Law matter and go continue to protect citizens from any kind violence.
As for the convict, our correspondent try reach am but e no wan talk about the matter. E also try to reach the lawyer wey represent am, Barrister Lauiza, but she no gree talk whether dem go appeal the judgment. For now, Muhd don dey custody wait for when dem go execute this sentence.
