Dis serious talk happen during the commissioning of Sulaiman Botsende Lagundoye Museum and Library wey dem hold for University College Hospital wey dey Ibadan. Na here the late Prof Lagundoye, wey be first Nigerian Professor of Radiology, shine like star during him time. E don do plenty work for medical imaging and him dey known for him strong mentorship for future radiologists.
The new museum and library no go be just ordinary place; e go serve as resource and training center for all this radiology matter. Imagine the kind knowledge wey future doctors go fit gather from there. Na so the Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Prof Peter Olapegba, take represent Prof Adebowale carry show us how pioneers like Lagundoye build foundation wey we dey use till today.
According to the Professor, make all departments dey preserve their history, because without understanding wetin don happen before, no way to make better progress as a nation. E talk say, ‘Every department and unit should strive to preserve its history. Institutions cannot make meaningful progress if they lose sight of their past.’
Prof Adebowale dey call for serious funding to support more projects like this one, make our academic community fit understand their journey and appreciate their legacy. You know say history dey matter pass, abi?
Before we go forget, the Provost of the College of Medicine, Prof Temitayo Ogundiran, come shed light on the greatness of the late Prof Lagundoye.
