My people, make una hear wetin dey happen for Katsina State! Our brothers and sisters wey dey work for National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) don shine their eyes well well! E be like say dem no wan make drug peddlers enjoy for their corner, as dem don grab 1,018 suspects this year!
During wetin them call end-of-year press conference, Katsina NDLEA big man, Samaila Danmalam, yarn say dem no dey play for this anti-drug matter. From January to December 2025, dem don catch plenty people wey dey do drug things! Na wah o! For dem 1,018 suspects wey dem catch, 992 na men, while just 26 na women. Of course, na men wey dey do am pass, but drug matter no get gender.
Dem don seize over 2.4 tonnes of illegal drugs from these suspects. You go wonder wetin dey inside! Na 1,667.747 kg of Cannabis, 12.348 kg of codeine, plus 793.66 kg of psychotropic substances! E be like say dem don scatter drug business for Katsina this year, and na wetin we dey call achievement!
Samaila talk say, “Our War Against Drug Abuse (WADA) don dey pay off well! We don do 203 sensitization programs wey reach 75,135 people across various communities. Na so dem fit carry this matter come light.” Na wetin dem talk be say, many people sef don benefit from counseling, 451 people get help, and 58 don enter rehabilitation to get better. Na real ogbonge work! You go gree say na team work dey cause this kind success?
But no be all jolly jolly matter, oh! Danmalam still talk say dem get some wahala wey dey scatter their plans. Dem still dey struggle for better vehicles and accommodation for the officers wey dey risk their lives to fight drug abuse. He beg the government and well-meaning Nigerians to help make the job easier for dem. E no dey good if our warriors no get wetin dem need to fight the war, abi?
As we go enter new year, NDLEA commit to continue this fight to make Katsina a better place for all of us. So, my people, make we spread the word, no be to dey point finger at dem wey dey do drugs, but to join hand to support our NDLEA and make sure say drug no dey spoil our community!
