No be small wahala oh! Lagos State no dey play as dem don catch 45 beggars wey dey find alms for street. This one happen for Alimosho, Agege and Oshodi, as environmental enforcement teams take enter ground with serious mop-up operation.
Commissioner for Environment and Water Resources, Tokunbo Wahab, show say dem no dey joke with streets matter as e confirm am for him X handle – wey dem don call Twitter before. E talk say di arrests na part of di state government wahala to make sure say we fit maintain order for public spaces.
Wahab drop serious breakdown of di numbers wey dem catch for each area. For Alimosho, dem pick 17 beggars, then 12 for Agege, plus anoda follow-up operation wey catch 10 more for Alimosho again, and 6 for Oshodi. Na 45 total be dat! E clear say dem no wan make beggars dey spoil di environment again.
According to di commissioner, di koko of di matter be say street begging dey cause serious environmental wahala. E dey endanger lives and dey scatter public order; dem dey expose di road users to plenty unnecessary risks. E talk say dem go dey enforce di law well-well, and dem go work with social welfare agencies to help those wey need am.
Tokunbo Wahab talk say dem go continue to dey carry out dis kind operation as part of “sustained enforcement and mop-up operations” wey dem don start across di state. E don talk say dem no dey reason di matter small, anybody wey vex break di law go face di full weight of di law.
Di Lagos State Government don step up dis kind activities wey aim to improve urban management and reduce di wahala wey dey happen for public spaces. E clear say dem dey serious about making Lagos safe and clean for everybody, but wetin dem go do to help di beggars wey no get options?
Make we dey watch as dis matter dey unfold, because e fit change di way wey we dey see beggars for streets. People get their own stories, but how dem go fit survive without di begging wey dem dey do? Na wetin we go see as di government continue to enforce dia laws.
