Dem gather 75 people wey sabi boat matter well, well, teach dem how to navigate water like professional fishermen.
Dem train from December 22 to 24, 2025, and na serious training work be this. E get as e be, the training no just dey about theory alone, dem carry dem go jetty for practical session. Na dem dey teach how to manage vessel make e no go waka anyhow, and how to save demself if wahala come when dem dey water.
As dem talk am, plenty boat associations join the training wahala. Maritime Workers Union, Tourist Boat Operators, and Waterfront Transporters all contribute their members to make shore say everybody dey ready. If you from Lagos, Ogun, or Ondo, you fit dey sure say your people dey na this training level.
Timothy Clement, wey represent NIWA, don talk say this kind training go help reduce water accidents wey don dey waka with heavy wahala for this our inland water. He yarn say many boat accidents don happen because drivers no sabi wetin dem dey do. So, dem dey push for capacity building to fix that issue.
Dr. Sileola Akinbowale wey be lead trainer, don add her voice. She talk say safety na priority as dem design this program fit for operators. Dem even dabble with practical skills like handling fire and emergency matters. She sabi wetin she dey talk, and mark my word, she say the training get 90 percent success rate.
Participants dey hail this initiative ehn! Wasiu Olalekan from Lagos dey happy say now, dem go fit use wetin dem learn manage as they see wahala. Biobaku John from Ondo say him learn plenty about safety wey go help am as boat driver. Pami Ronald from Ogun State too don speak, him talk say dem touch light plenty area wey dey important for dem work.
The Federal Government dey serious with this marine safety matter! With all these new initiatives from NIWA, dem don dey ramp up the safety talks, collect wrecks wey dey cause blockage and dey run plenty awareness campaigns. Na so safety matter go fit improve for this weti we dey call water world.
