Uganda Don Ban Starlink Before Election, Wetin De Happen?

Wetin dey happen for Uganda no be small matter! Na so dem don restrict import of Starlink satellite internet equipment just as election dey waka come. Na January 15, 2026, dem go carry election come, wahala no go be small with President Yoweri Museveni wey wan still collect power after 50 years. Opponent wey be pop star, Bobi Wine, dey prepared to fight this election again.

Back for 2021 elections, Museveni government cut internet off for days, and na him Bobi Wine, a.k.a. Robert Kyagulanyi, talk say dem rig election. Museveni deny am, but wetin don happen don show say dem no get level wey no fit try again, as dem ban Starlink gadgets through leaked memo from revenue people.

This memo wey don waka for social media say anything wey get to do with Starlink go need clearance from military head, Muhoozi Kainerugaba, wey be Museveni pikin. Uganda Revenue Authority don downplay the restrictions, talk say na normal for countries to control communication technology imports, but wetin dem dey do hard no be normal at all!

Bobi Wine no carry last. He don shout for X, dey call the ban ridiculous. He ask dem say if dem no dey plan any electoral fraud, why dem dey fear make people get internet access during election? Na serious question wey dey vex so many people!

Museveni wey don rule for many years don bring some stability, but critics dey accuse him of serious human rights abuses and all sorts of corruption. E don amend constitution, remove age and term limits, abi na by force to stay for power? E be like say election go hot o!

Meanwhile, Uganda’s Catholic Bishops don drop their Christmas message urge Electoral Commission to ensure say dem manage election well, make security forces no dey use violence. Dem don talk say the fragile democracy of Uganda dey at risk in this period of tension.

As the campaign season dey hot up, dem don observe say things dey change, from ‘relative peace’ to ‘serious violence’. Na the involvement of security agencies dey cause this wahala. Dem dey remind politicians say make dem no escalate matter and keep within the laws of the land.

Na true, we dey wish Uganda people better elections, make dem shine their eyes well as dem dey prepare to vote. As we dey enter new year, we hope say dem go see peace and democracy, no be fight and wahala.
