Dr Elijah Ogunsola, di Executive Secretary of Ogun State Primary Healthcare Board, drop dis beta news for stakeholders meeting wey happen for di Governor’s Office, Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta. Dem dey plan to carry out dis vaccination campaign from January 20 to 29, 2026. Na serious matter, as Rubella dey cause wahala for pregnant women and fit lead to Congenital Rubella Syndrome (CRS), wey fit make pikin blind, deaf, or even get heart issues. No be small issue oh!
Dr Ogunsola talk say, “Dis no be house-to-house campaign o. Wetin we dey do na settlement-to-settlement campaign.” He explain say dem go find one central place for each settlement where di team of six personnel go vaccinate di children dem. E get target say dem wan reach 20,000 settlements and carry out dis vaccination for 2.9 million children. Na over 7,000 personnel dey on ground for dis MR vaccine campaign.
Di plan be say dem go put di vaccination team for designated points wey no go dey more than 500 metres apart. Dis one go make am easy for parents make dem no need waka far to vaccinate their pikin. Di campaign ago run till February 1, 2026. If any pikin turn nine months after di campaign, dem fit go health centres to get their own vaccine.
Ogunsola still talk say dem go target schools, churches, and mosques so dat no child go miss out. E encourage parents say make dem no fear as di MR vaccine dey safe. E also call on di media make dem join hand with government and partners to make sure say di exercise succeed. As e be now, di World Health Organisation (WHO) don label Rubella as serious health matter for Nigeria because of di risk wey e pose to newborns.
