The wahala full ground, and e don reach boiling point! Local government councils don demand make dem dey take their funds straight from the Federation Account, no more middlemen.

For the past months, hear as dem talk, ‘between July 2024 and December 2025, wey dis guber boys dey manage our funds, wey dey reign supreme, dem don see N7.43 trillion come our way! But the catch be say, dem still dey hold our money like say na dem own am. We no gree oo!’ That’s wahala everywhere!

You know say President Bola Tinubu now don enter this matter with his mouth wide open! During di 15th National Executive Committee meeting of the APC for Abuja, he don tell these governors say if dem no follow wetin Supreme Court talk, he go use Executive Order chop dem clean. E clear say the man get power and he wan flex am!

Tinubu don remind dem say Supreme Court talk say no be correct make state governments dey hold local government money. This one dey hot, no be small! Na only democratically elected persons suppose manage local government resources, no caretaker committee again. But behold! Despite the Supreme Court go-slow, dem still dey lag behind.

Dem talk say di same old joint local government account dey happen for many states, and this one dey cause gobe for real. As per any money wey dey come, e dey enter this same account wey dey turn dem to cashless operations. The local councils dey suffer as funds dey drain, public projects dey stay for ground!

For 2024 second half alone, dem allocate N2.08 trillion to these councils, and for 2025, e sky rocket to N5.35 trillion, representing serious money! But wetin concern dem? Na state governments get hold of all this cash. Dem dey talk say plenty money dey enter their purse, but service delivery dey drop like bad market.

We hear from ALGON Secretary General, Muhammed Abubakar, as he don support Tinubu move. E talk say this matter don dey drag since forever and na financial independence go gel local governance. Even former local government chairmen don talk say di money no dey show for the ground as long as state interference dey hamper development!
