My people, make I clear una wetin dey happen for Ekiti State concerning Tax Identification Number (TIN) wahala wey people dey yarn. Ekiti State Internal Revenue Service (EKIRS) don comot talk say, no be wetin dem dey think o! Dem no go freeze any bank account if you no get TIN come January 1, 2026.
This one na big matter wey concern every Nigerian, especially as dem dey plan new tax law wey go involve linking bank account to TIN or National Identity Number (NIN). Fidelity Bank, dem don talk say starting from January 1, if your account no get TIN or NIN, transaction no go fit happen. But EKIRS don make am clear say, no wahala go dey for your account if you no get TIN.
Chairman of EKIRS, Mr. Olatona, talk am straight say dem no go fit just waka come remove money from your account without due process. E say, “People dey fear say if dem no get tax ID, dem go freeze dem bank account. But I dey tell you, na big fallacy! Nobody dey go freeze account like that.” Na so we go dey carry dem correct gist make sure say everybody dey alright.
Mr. Olatona don explain say this new reform na to help better our tax system, make am dey fair and increase revenue without stressing citizens. Bukas wey dey sell garri no go dey charge us extra because of tax wahala. Na to make sure say everybody dey pay wetin dem suppose pay, no more, no less.
He even talk say, “We no want to stifle growth for businesses. E dey very important say business fit grow without wahala before dem go dey pay tax.” E encourage everybody to settle tax matter as e go help improve the economy and fit reduce wahala wey dey come from multiple taxation. As the business dem dey grow, dem go fit carry their own load.
Olatona still caution say make person no carry tax workload enter pepper seller shop or mama put because reform dey plan to actually reduce cost of food and other important items. “Pay your taxes, na wetin go give you that moral authority to ask your government wetin dem dey do with your money,” na wetin he talk to encourage people.
As this matter dey play, make we no forget say the current administration under Governor Biodun Oyebanji dey focus on people and na wetin we fit see from how dem dey use revenue for the state. EKIRS dey tell us say dem go continue to educate us on wetin this new tax reforms mean for we, so we fit go fit do our own well.
No shaking, my people! Make we no dey fear the new tax law, na cooperation and understanding dey key to get this thing right.
