Federal Government Don Launch Big-Change for Money Matter!

Abuja, Nigeria – E be like say naija don finally wake up as federal government don reset dem public finance system wey don dey lag for years. Na the biggest move since dem start dey use Treasury Single Account (TSA) over ten years ago. Dem don introduce one new platform wey dem dey call Revenue Optimisation Platform (RevOp), and e go join all di big boys like the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) and Nigeria Inter-Bank Settlement System (NIBSS) together for one place wey dem go fit see wetin dey happen with federal money.

Dis new change no be for play o! It go launch by January 1, 2026, and e go make e mandatory say everybody wey wan do transaction with federal ministries, departments, and agencies (MDAs) go collect digital receipts only. (No more carrying paper around like sey na school wey you dey go!).

Wale Edun, di Minister of Finance, na im dey lead dis whole show. E don dey push for make naija use technology to reduce wahala wey dey follow money collection, because dem dey lose billions every year through bad practices wey dey happen. According to officials, dis new platform go change di game as e go provide better visibility on wetin dem dey collect and how dem dey handle am.

“This na di most serious upgrade wey don happen since dem dey use TSA,” one OAGF official talk. “E go move Nigeria into modern times wey dey cashless and e go help everybody see wetin dey happen.” (Na wetin we dey talk since, abi?!)

The RevOp go help MDAs track wetin dem collect every time and e go make sure say any naira wey dem collect go land well for di TSA without any chop-chop (no dodgy touch!).

One main gist wey dey inside dis reform be say dem don ban cash transactions completely. All di money wey MDAs suppose collect go dey electronic only, make e no be like sey dem dey collect your money today and tomorrow your cash don waka go somewhere else! Dem go cancel all dis bad habits wey dey allow corruption thrive.

And if you think sey na here di gist dey end, think again! From January, 2026, dem go bring Federal Treasury e-Receipt (FTeR). This one go be di only receipt wey go show say you don pay government. No more fake receipts wey dey follow immigrants after dem don pay dem taxes (na wah!).

Wale and him crew dey expect say dis restructuring go make di government revenue chook eye for road and stop di gbese wey dey hide for corners somewhere. Dem also dey talk say this na di way wey dem fit follow to bring naija in line with global best practices. So citizens wey dey complain of wahala with receipts go fit breathe small as dis e-receipt dey come with traceable records.

In summary, dis finance reform go na definitely hone taxpayers’ confidence and improve overall governance. Although e go require some MDAs to upgrade dia systems, dem believe say di long-term benefits, like higher revenue and less waste, go outrun any short-term wahala wey fit come arise.
