As National Assembly dey do dem usual hustle to amend this constitution before December wey follow electoral wahala, Olanipekun don come talk say all dis wahala na just wasting time. E even use the term ‘military albatross’ to describe the current constitution, like say na heavy load wey we don dey carry for back since 1999. Wetin we go gain from plenty amendments when wetin we really need na fresh start?

During the 13th convocation ceremony for Afe Babalola University wey dey for Ado-Ekiti, dis legal guru talk am say, “Abeg, no send any amendment forward again. We need to sit down, gatherr all our people, take discuss and create new people’s constitution wey go set the tone for new social order.” (E no wan make dem continue dey manage old things when we fit create better things, true true.)

According to am, we need to use this time wey dey between now and 2031 to think am well, especially all the things wey don dey plague Nigeria, like unequal distribution of local government opportunities. Na wah o, so many people dey suffer obodo Nigeria give the wrong politics.

Olanipekun, wey also be pro-Chancellor for University of Lagos, insist make National Assembly no rush any constitutional amendment. E also talk say e don dey obvious say na referendum go help us decide dis matter well. Make we hear wetin ordinary people dey feel, no bi only wetin politicians dey yap for mouth all the time.

For the serious matter of security, e don suggest make we get state and community police, so as wahala no go dey on top our neck every time. E no forget to give kudos to President Bola Tinubu for no allowing Nigeria turn one-party state, saying if e no stand strong, we for don dey here dey complain say na only one party dey spoil our vibe.

He beg politicians make dem no dey jump from one party to another anyhow, because e dey affect how our democracy fit grow. Na true talk. If dem want Nigeria to work, dem have to respect their party values, no be so?
