5 Nigerians picked for CAF Women’s Champions League qualifying tournament

Ruth David of the Nigerian Football Federation (NFF) and four other Nigerians have been selected as officials of the West African qualifying tournament for the inaugural CAF Women’s Champions League.

David, NFF Acting Director of Competitions, and the others will play a key role in organizing the tournament.

She was appointed one of the match commissioners for the tournament scheduled for Côte d’Ivoire.

Retired referee Felicia Okwugba will serve as technical instructor, while Yemisi Akintoye will serve as referee and Friday Mfon will serve as assistant referee.

Also, Promise Uwaeme will work in information technology during the tournament scheduled for Abidjan from July 15 to 30.

Six teams will participate in the competition, including the Rivers Angels of Nigeria, who won the Nigeria Women Premier League (NWPL) Super 6 tournament held in Ijebu-Ode.

The others are the Association Sportive de la Police de Niamey from the Republic of Niger and Onze Sours de Gagnoa from Côte d’Ivoire.

The others are the Hassacas Ladies Football Club of Ghana, the Amis du Monde Football Club of Togo and the Union Sportive Forces Armees of Burkina Faso.

The inaugural edition of the CAF Women’s Champions League competition will be held in Egypt later this year. (NAA)
