Three men, Alaba Adetula, Oparaji Chikere and Simon Obi, on Monday appeared before a Badagry Magistrates’ Court in Lagos State for alleged impersonation and stealing.
The police arraigned Adetula, 29; Chikere, 36; and Obi, 24, on a two count-charge of impersonation and stealing.
They, however, pleaded not guilty.
The Prosecutor, ASP Clement Okuoimose, said that the defendants committed the offences on Aug. 1, at 2:30 a.m. at Conoil filing station, Seme Border, Badagry.
Okuoimose said that the three men paraded themselves as police officers to the public, knowing same to be false.
“The defendants also stole the sum of N19, 500 property of one Maduka Ofiaeli.
“The offences contravened Sections 77 and 287 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015,’’ he said.
The Magistrate, Mr Lazarus Hotepo, admitted the defendants to bail in the sum of N100, 000 each with two sureties in like sum.
He adjourned the case until Sept.5 for hearing.
