Shettima tasks group on mobilisation for Tinubu’s candidature

Mr Kashim Shettima, Vice-presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress(APC), has implored a support group of the party, ‘National Integrity Movement(ANIM)’, on mobilisation of votes for Asiwaju Bola Tinubu to emerge as president in the 2023 elections   Shettima said this when the executive members of ANIM paid him a courtesy visit to him on Monday in Abuja.

According to him, Tinubu has excellent track records of service delivery with qualitative leadership, while he has groomed men and women who had excelled in their different careers.

“I will never get tired of telling people that when he became the governor of Lagos state, he did a lot to change the face of the state.

“Lagos was one hell of a place, it was a huge place and the fear of Lagos then was the beginning of wisdom, but Bola Tinubu changed all of that, ‘’he said.

The ex-Borno Governor said that through Tinubu’s handwork then, the state’s internally generated revenue grew from N6 million to N61 billion monthly.

Shettima said that Lagos was now the fifth largest economy in Africa and it has been projected to be the third largest economy in April.

“Even with its multicultural diversity, Lagos has become the most peaceful state in Nigeria and this is due to the leadership qualities laid when he was a governor,,   “So, we must judge people by the content of their character irrespective of differences in political affiliations, religious persuasion or their backgrounds.

“The truth of the matter is, Asiwaju has the track records and we are prepared to have a conversation on how to get the nation out of the hood.

“We want to create jobs, alleviate the suffering of Nigerians and by God grace move the country forward, ’’he said.

Shettima urged the group to do more in their mobilisation for the candidature of Tinubu.

The leader of the group, Mr Abubakar Saadu said the visit was to rally support for the party’s candidates in the 2023 General Elections.

“The APC National Integrity Movement is a group that encompasses various people from all works of life cutting across the six geopolitical zones of the country.

“We want to strategise on ways to ensure that APC Presidential candidate, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu and his vice are voted in the upcoming 2023 General Elections, ’’he said.

Saadu also said that President Muhammadu Buhari had made a lot of efforts in enhancing the socio-economic development and the well being of Nigerians was improved.

He added, ”there is the need to ensure that giant step is maintained and APC as a party is what Nigerians have confidence in.

ADC is built by God and can’t be destroyed by anyone -Nwosu

Mr Ralph Nwosu, African Democratic Congress (ADC) National Chairman says those trying to destroy the party through blackmail will not succeed because it is built by God.He said this on Monday in Abuja while presenting certificates of return to the party’s Senatoral, House of Representatives and State Houses of Assembly candidates at its national secretariat.

He explained that some of those trying to bring down the party through blackmail and negative publicity, joined it on the last day of substitution of names, including its Vice-Presidential candidate.

“They came in less than two months ago, and they are the people shouting to the high heavens.

“We have built a brand, they can say we have stayed for 100 years, but we have built a brand that had become very enviable in the country,” Nwosu said.

He said though the party’s presidential primary election ended over three months ago, Mr Dumebi Kachikwu, its suspended 2023 presidential candidate was yet to have any campaign structure on ground, not even a bill board.

“From June 8 when we had our presidential primary, our suspended presidential candidate doesn’t have a campaign office, and there is no vehicle marked Dumebi Kachikwu for president in Nigeria.

“He has no poster any where, it was only recently that they came here to more or less take money from the national leadership and started doing some funny looking bill boards,”Nwosu said.

The ADC national chairman said it was regrettable that while most of the party’s candidates at different levels now had posters, flyers, manifestos and strategic path ways, Kachikwu was yet to hit the ground running.

He said those that thought the party’s national chairman and its national secretary were its problem, should go and ask Kachikwu of his manifesto.

Nwosu added that while it was very easy to destroy, no one could destroy that which God had made.

He, however, said that the story between Kachikwu and the party’s leadership would be told to Nigerians at the appropriate time.

Nwosu maintained that in spite of the blackmail from the ADC suspended presidential candidate, it remained the greatest brand, the most democratic and transparent political party in the country.

He added that the party’s leadership had never collected money or arm-twisted any of those that emerged as its candidates for 2023 polls.

“It is unfortunate that a presidential candidate who cannot print flyers and posters is going around painting everyone black, this is however not the time to engage him.

“But, I want to inform you that for the defamation of my character, I have told my lawyers to take that up, and I will take it to any level.

“We are having some challenges, but I can tell you now that it is better to deal with the monster now, than to wait one or two months to 2023 General Elections,” Nwosu said.

He further added that the last thing the party’s leadership would do, was to exchange words with its suspended presidential candidate in public.

This, he said, should be left to the members of the party who were its original owners.

According to him, the party has 107 Senatorial candidates and 354 House of Representatives candidates, among other candidates.

Deloitte launches initiative to train school leavers, unemployed graduates

Deloitte Africa says it has launched an initiative, “Africa Talent”,  targeted at training school leavers and unemployed graduates for job opportunities.

Deloitte Africa in a statement issued on Monday to newsmen in Lagos, said the initiative was a joint venture with Deloitte Netherlands.

It said that as founding firms of “Africa Talent”, Deloitte Africa and Deloitte Netherlands had committed an initial investment of approximately 1.4 million dollars with the intention of expanding it to other geographies in Europe during 2023. The company said the programme aims to recruit graduates with limited experience and those without employment.

“It is also targeted at attracting school leavers, who show potential but may not have opportunities to pursue tertiary education.

“Africa talent will also target experienced hires who are looking for international exposure without having to leave their home countries on the continent,” it said.

It said that the initiative seeks to tap into the continent’s youthful and growing population, using hybrid and remote working technology to service the talent needs in areas characterised by an ageing working population like Western Europe.

According to Deloitte Africa, graduates will be trained on data analytics, consulting, cybersecurity and other specialist digital technology skills.

It said they would also work in areas such as financial and regulatory risk, as well as internal audit.

Commenting on the joint venture, the Chief Executive Officer of Deloitte Africa, Ruwayda Redfearn, said: “Africa has the youngest population in the world.

” He said it would be an immense opportunity to tap into the resource by investing and empowering the youth to reach their full potential.

“Africa Talent will expose the continent’s graduates to skills and opportunities they may otherwise not have had.

“It will not only address the skills shortage on the continent, but also solve the high unemployment issues among graduates, across Africa,” Redfearn said.

The Chief Executive Officer of Deloitte Netherlands, Hans Honing, said: “Africa Talent provides us with access to a high-quality skills pool that fits the needs of our clients.

” Honing said the initiative demonstrates the power of the global Deloitte network to drive innovative working models that better meet the demands of the dynamic world.
