Onyenji also said that the action was in line with the provisions of the Anambra State Tourism and Hospitality Law 2016. AbdulRazaq’s agenda for Kwara clear, futuristic – Official

Gov. AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq agenda for Kwara is clear and futuristic to take the state to the next level, says an official.

This is contained in a statement issued in Ilorin on Thursday by the Chief Press Secretary to the governor, Mr Rafiu Ajakaye.

Ajakaye said AbdulRazaq has long unveiled his multi-sector good agenda for the people of the state and would continue to do so.

He said the governor would anchor his re-election bid on his achievements, tangible and intangible, and the plans already being implemented.

“With an experienced head on young shoulders, the governor had come to office on the back of a democratic revolution, which swept away the old order.

“The last three years of his first tenure recorded pleasantly measurable achievements in public access to qualitative education, healthcare delivery,“potable water, agriculture, urban planning, rural development, social safety net, youth engagement and women empowerment, and pro-business policies.

“Data earlier provided have shown positive growths in several areas including improvements and greater efficiency in internal revenue generation,” he said.

According to him, the state revenue agency posted a record-high N10.7 billion in the first quarter of 2022 as the highest IGR for a quarter in the history of the state.

The spokesman attributed the achievements to the introduction of new technology and deliberate efforts to widen the tax nets and block leakages without undue burden to the people.

He said AbdulRazaq-led administration has made its mark in agriculture sector as evident in investment in new tractors, bulldozers, farm inputs subsidy programmes, and reorganisation of farmers along manageable strata based on verifiable database system.

Ajakaye said that the state is implementing Kwara State Education Transformation Agenda (KWETA), an offshoot of which is KwaraLEARN.

“Under KwaraLEARN, every Kwara child in public basic schools is introduced to technology and is taught in a way that guarantees better learning outcome and a brighter future.

“An important plank of KWETA is the Kwara State Education Trust Fund whose law has since been passed.

This officially encourages the private sector and philanthropists to support public education.

“The trust fund is built on the reality that government needs all the support it can mobilise to provide qualitative education to the children.

“While such support is certain to give massive public goodwill to the private sector funders, the law does not invite anyone to impose hidden costs on the people,” he said.

He said the governor want good infrastructure, support for farmers and food security, small and medium scale enterprises, creativity, tourism, arts and leveraging technology and innovation for improved revenue generation.

Ajakaye also assured the people of mass employment, good healthcare system and sustainable living in 21st century under the leadership of  AbdulRazaq.

“With signature projects like Sugar Film Factory, Visual Arts Centre, Innovation Hub, Garment Factory, Ilorin International Conference Centre, and support for small businesses, it is clear Kwara is boldly registering itself back to national consciousness.

“The vision is supported by many big road projects in the north, south, and central which connect important parts of the state.

Add those to the imposing General Tunde Idiagbon Bridge — a soon-to-emerge cynosure which will serve as Kwara’s version of the beautiful Ikoyi Bridge,” he said.

According to him, the whole idea is to improve the business outlook of the state, raise its competitiveness among its peers, create fertile grounds for sustainable growth and employment, and improve the living standards of the people.

He therefore urged the people to continue to support AbdulRazaq’s vision to take the state to the next level.

I will meet expectations of PDP, Nigerians – Atiku

The Presidential candidate of the People Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar has pledged that he would meet the expectations of the party and  Nigerians when elected president in 2023. Abubakar made the promise during his remarks at the PDP 97 National Executive Council (NEC) meeting in Abuja on Thursday.

He appreciated the NEC members for their support during the party’s convention in May where he emerged as the presidential candidate of the PDP.

    “I cannot thank you enough.

My promise is that I will meet your expectations and the expectations of Nigerians.

“Let me also use this opportunity to thank our outgoing BoT Chairman for his services and sense of patriotism for our great party,” Abubakar said.

The former vice president also expressed his commitment to ensuring that the internal crisis in the party was resolved.

“Many speakers have alluded to family disagreement, family disagreements are normal even in normal families as well as political families.

“But what I can assure you is that we are determined to resolve those issues internally.

There are not really fundamental disagreements, it is normal,” Abubakar said.

He appealed to all party members to ensure that it’s challenges were resolved internally within the provisions of the party’s constitution.

“As a political party we have our constitution, our rules and our regulations.

“I want to urge that no matter the level of disagreement, it should be resolved within our constitution, within our rules, within our regulations.

“We have all what it takes to guide us to continue to nurture this political party, to provide a platform for all Nigerians to realize their collective and individual aspirations.

“Therefore, I wish to appeal to all members of our party to make sure that all our disagreements are resolved internally,” Abubakar said.

In his remarks, the former President of the Senate and acting Chairman of PDP Board of Trustees (BoT), Sen. Adolphus Wabara urged party members to always control their emotions and ensure disagreements within the party were addressed internally.

“The PDP has an inbuilt mechanism to solve problems.

We have done it several times.

When people expect us to implode, that is when we become very glorious.

“I want to advise us that we should always deprive ourselves in-house no matter what the anger is; let us deprive ourselves in-house rather than playing to the gallery.

“We should watch and control our utterances because by and large, only God knows tomorrow.

“Because once you voice out something, it is always difficult for you to pick back what you voice out.

“My advice to use is that we should be mature enough to control our temper,” Wabara said.

Earlier, the party’s National Chairman, Sen. Iyorchia Ayu, said he was happy that PDP is united and Nigerians were enthusiastic about the party in spite of the impression being created by some people.

“I am happy that the Nigerian people are interested in our party.

I am interested not because we disagree among ourselves, but in our capacity to deliver and when we take over power.

“We have done it before and I believe that people will also give us their mandates.

” Ayu urged the party to focus on the issues that worried Nigerians including issues of security, education,  economy, health,  national infrastructure that will help the country to move forward.

On his part, the Chairman, PDP Governors Forum, Gov. Aminu Tambuwal of Sokoto State, said that the forum was working to address the misunderstanding in the party.

He pledged that PDP governors would continue delivery of dividends of democracy to Nigerians.

Tambuwal commended the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and President Muhammadu Buhari for improving of the country electoral system, urging them to sustain it to make 2023 general elections free and credible.

“We must as people of goodwill, as believers and democracy encouraged President Buhari, indeed INEC and all security agencies to ensure that we have free, fair, transparent election in 2023. “In any case, that was what PDP presided over in 2015. So it’s only an improvement on the legacy of the PDP if that is done by the APC administration,” Tambuwal said.

The Senate Minority Leader, Sen. Chukwuka Utazi, said that the party Caucus in the National Assembly was united and indivisible.

Prince Charles becomes King as Britain’s Queen Elizabeth is dead

Queen Elizabeth, Britain’s longest-reigning monarch and the nation’s figurehead for seven decades, has died aged 96, Buckingham Palace said on Thursday.

    Prince Charles is now king.

It is a moment that the United Kingdom has been bracing for, with an elaborate plan for “Operation London Bridge” mapping out what happens next.

But it comes as a shock all the same.

The royal family said in a statement: “The Queen died peacefully at Balmoral this afternoon.

The King and The Queen Consort will remain at Balmoral this evening and will return to London tomorrow.

” The queen planned for her succession for some time — and Charles increasingly took on more royal duties as her health worsened.

White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre was about to end her briefing Thursday when reporters informed her of the queen’s death.

    “Okay. All right.

    Well, so that’s been confirmed?

” a visibly shocked Jean-Pierre said as reporters read her the notification.

“As I said earlier, you know, our hearts and our thoughts go to the family members of the queen, to the people of the United Kingdom.

” Jean-Pierre said she did not want to “get ahead of what the president is going to say.
