Desert Queens of Katsina female handball team drew 27-27 with Seasiders Babes of Lagos in Day 7 match of the ongoing Prudent Energy Handball Premier League on Tuesday in Abuja.

The News Agency of Nigeria reports that the Seasiders Babes were in control of the game in the first half, winning 14-11 but Desert Queens bounced back in the second half to draw 27-27.

Speaking after the match, Seasiders Babes of Lagos coach, Olubukola Duru, said her team drew the game because of lack of concentration.

“Our girls did not play to instruction because we were leading the game in the first half, but they also tried their best because the opponent were determined to win the game.

“My players did not allow the Desert Queens to defeat them, we will correct our mistakes so that they will not repeat it in their next game,’’ she said.

Her Desert Queens of Katsina counterpart, Eunice Ogbotobo, said her players were ready to win their game but unfortunately the game ended in a draw.

“It was a very good match and we played well; the Lagos team are a very good side because they were leading us in the first half.

“We will correct our lapses and work hard to win our next game,’’ she said.

In the first game, Plateau Peacocks of Jos walked over Abia Valiants to secure 10 points, while in the second game, Kada Queens of Kaduna trashed Owena Queens of Akure 33-10.

NAN reports that 12 male and 10 female teams are taking part in the first phase of the 2nd Prudent Energy League organised by the HFN.

The competition is holding at the Velodrome of the National Stadium in Abuja from May 14 to May 25.
