20 deaths reported from dengue in parts of Pakistan in 3 weeks-
– At least 20 people have died from dengue fever in different parts of Pakistan over the past three weeks as the number of cases continues to rise in the country, local health departments reported.
During this period, around 15 deaths were reported in the eastern Punjab province, while the southern Sindh and northwestern Khyber Pakhtunkhwa provinces recorded three and two deaths respectively, according to the latest figures released by authorities on Saturday.
In the past 24 hours, four people have died from the disease in Punjab, bringing the total number of deaths this year in the province to 45, the provincial health department said on Saturday. The total number of dengue cases in the province this year amounts to 18,487.
Sindh reported 104 new infections in the past 24 hours, the provincial health department said late Saturday. With the newly reported dengue cases, the total number of cases this year in Sindh increased to 22,038 with 61 deaths.
The national capital, Islamabad, reported four new dengue cases in 24 hours, health authorities said late Saturday. The city’s total count rose to 5,378 this year, while 11 people lost their lives. ■
