The state of emergency will be in force until next Thursday on the territories of the municipalities of Svilengrad and Topolovgrad, the Haskovo Regional Administration said in a statement.
It said the state of emergency was declared by Minko Angelov, governor of Haskovo Region, due to the mounting migration pressure along the Bulgarian-Turkish border.
The goal was to avoid loss of human lives, prevent huge damages to the property of the population and the economy, as well as to prevent significant environmental consequences, it said.
The Bulgarian Ministry of Interior has frequently reported illegal migrants recently.
The latest case was reported on Thursday, when a boat with 38 illegal immigrants on board, including 22 men, eight women and eight children was detained in the northern Bulgarian Black sea area.
