Willem II dey find first win of the Eredivisie season, but the club still dey face serious risk to equal one painful 42-year record. Helmond Sport hold the record: between 1983 and 1984, dem go 30 matches without victory. Willem II don already go 28 games without win—22 losses and six draws—since January 2025. If dem no win soon, dem fit match that record.
Willem II start the run for second half of the 2024/25 season, when dem no win any of their 17 matches. Relegation follow through the play-offs. This summer, the club return to the top level, but results no improve. The poor start cost John Stegeman his job. After that, Willem II lose 1-6 to SC Cambuur in the only match under interim coach Adrie Koster, then lose 7-0 to PSV when Jurgen Streppel return.
This evening, Willem II dey host PEC Zwolle for an Eredivisie match. The game kick off 20:00, and PEC Zwolle want continue their rising form. The match burst open early: Sydney van Hooijdonk score after 62 seconds before Willem II even touch the ball. But Hidde ter Avest equalise almost immediately to make am 1-1, while smoke from fireworks around the stadium still dey.
PEC Zwolle later get more of the ball, especially down the left, but dem no create plenty clear chances. Dylan Mbayo get to the byline but choose wrong option when Namli wait at the penalty spot. Devin Haen also head a cross straight at goalkeeper Schendelaar. For Willem II, goalkeeper Delanghe go down but get up after what look like a chance for Jurgen Streppel to talk to his players. At 65 minutes, the impression remain say Willem II no close to first win of the season, even though PEC Zwolle no dey much more dangerous despite their possession.
There was also a flashpoint around the 44th minute when Sydney van Hooijdonk complain say he was held during a Zwolle corner and want penalty, but referee Lindhout no give am. After the next corner, Sydney van Hooijdonk end up on the ground and a Tilburg player stumble, and the referee award free kick. The bigger picture clear: Willem II still dey hunt first win, and a trip to FC Twente on 22 November dey wait after the PEC Zwolle game.
