Arsenal defender Myles Lewis-Skelly don become one of di players wey manager Mikel Arteta dey look to as di international break close, and im form dey cause serious debate about wetin go happen to two senior stars for di squad.
One report from Pain in the Arsenal tok say di young full-back form don put di future of two Arsenal players for danger, as e dey push im way into di first team. LiveScore also list di defender among three players wey give Arteta food for thought during di international break.
Di argument no be say Lewis-Skelly just dey play small-small. Di full-back, wey sabi play more than one position for defence, don show say e fit hold im own when di big matches come.
Im story no begin today. For January 2025, referee Michael Oliver show am straight red card for di first half of Arsenal 1-0 win over Wolves, afta e bring down Matt Doherty inside im own half. Di card make am di third youngest player wey dem ever dismiss for Premier League history.
Arsenal no gree. Di club lodge appeal, and di FA independent regulatory commission uphold di claim of wrongful dismissal. Na so di 18-year-old escape three-match ban.
Arteta no hide im feelings wen di red card land. Dem report say di manager dey “absolutely fuming”, and fans and pundits criticised di decision well well. But afta di appeal succeed, Arteta tell journalists: “Obviously, I’m very happy that a decision has been made and Myles is going to be able to play again.”
Di decision mean say Lewis-Skelly fit play Arsenal home game against Manchester City, di second leg of di Carabao Cup semi-final against Newcastle on February 5, and di Premier League trip to Leicester on February 15.
Wen dem ask Arteta how di player take di news, e tok say: “He was sleeping on the plane when I looked back and I got the news, so I haven’t spoken to him, but I imagine a big smile on his face.”
Di FA spokesperson statement tok say: “An independent regulatory commission has upheld a claim of wrongful dismissal.”
Na di same defender current form dey make people ask whether two of im teammates still get space for di team, and na dat question Arteta go need answer as di season continue.
