Nottingham Forest dey struggle to score for Premier League, and head coach Oliver Glasner use training this week to work on finishing before the team face Arsenal. Nottingham Forest na the second-lowest scorers for the league, but dem don take third-most shots. The problem na conversion: dem dey rank 19th for turning chances to goals, and dem don score five goals fewer than their expected goals.
When e reach the part of giving scoring advice, Glasner no force himself. Im tell Sky Sports say im bin dey explain to the team wetin dem go do when Chris Wood stand beside am, so im pass the words to Chris Wood. Glasner talk say Chris Wood don score almost 200 goals in English football and 92 for Premier League. Im ask who fit talk about scoring pass Chris Wood, because im own Premier League goal record na zero and im score 20 in im entire career.
Chris Wood, 34, take small coaching role for that moment. Glasner talk say im love the message wey Chris Wood give the team: make dem never lose confidence in their ability. Chris Wood also talk say another chance always dey around the corner, and Glasner say na exactly how e be: you wait for the next one, then you get the next opportunity to score.
Glasner talk say e go be completely stupid if e no use the experience and quality wey dey inside the team. Im talk say everybody want the same thing and everybody want success, and the group dey together. Im add say manager no always get answer to everything, and team dey support each other with advice and experience, while manager and coaching staff dey guide dem and show dem the path.
Nottingham Forest league record na same as this time last season, when Nuno Espirito Santo don already lose im job before Ange Postecoglou become the club second managerial casualty inside their opening eight games. Glasner dey spotlight after winning just one of im first seven games in all competitions.
Nottingham Forest defeat at Crystal Palace last weekend, where dem get 24 shots, na their most frustrating yet, especially because of the recent history between the two clubs and Glasner connection with Crystal Palace. Glasner call am their best attacking performance. Im talk say dem bin dey high-pressing with low transitions, get open play chances and be big threat from set-pieces, but the final bit dey missing.
Arsenal go travel to City Ground on Sunday afternoon for Premier League match against Nottingham Forest. Arsenal return from international break with back-to-back wins at Emirates Stadium, come from behind beat Leeds United 2-1 last weekend before comfortably beat LOSC Lille 3-0 for Champions League on Tuesday night. Arsenal don keep perfect home record this season and now dem go road first time in October, looking to continue their winning form.
