Chieftain of African Democratic Congress (ADC), Dele Momodu, don tok say di party sabi how to stop President Bola Tinubu from getting second term for 2027 general election.
Momodu yan dis one during interview on Arise Television’s Prime Time on Wednesday. He insist say opposition dey work behind di scenes to challenge Tinubu re-election bid.
He no gree disclose di party plans, say ADC no go make im strategy public. “I can’t tell you about strategy in public. Wetin we know be say once upon a time, Tinubu fight for himself to survive second term as governor of Lagos State. So others too dey work very hard behind di scenes,” he tok.
“We no go come public and say dis, but we know wetin to do to make sure say he no get that second term,” Momodu add.
Di publisher of Ovation Magazine also question credibility of Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) under Tinubu administration. He allege say president appoint too many people from South-West to di electoral body.
He claim say many Nigerians, including some of Tinubu supporters, doubt whether president go ensure free and fair election in 2027.
“If you ask average Nigerian today about Tinubu, you trust Tinubu to conduct free and fair election? I can tell you, 90 per cent of dem go say no,” Momodu tok.
“Nobody trust Tinubu to run free and fair election, including his own supporters,” he add.
Momodu also dismiss suggestion say Tinubu go refuse to accept defeat if he lose election. He argue say determination of Nigerians fit shape outcome of di contest.
“Look, you no know determination of Nigerians, and now I no dey rest my confidence on just my party. I dey talk about ordinary man on street wey no fit imagine Tinubu coming back again,” he tok.
Di ADC chieftain further allege say fear don weaken checks on president among governors, judges and legislators.
He claim say some people wey dey publicly support Tinubu dey privately hope say he go lose election because dem no comfortable with wetin he describe as president dominance over political office holders.
“Governors dey scared, judges dey scared, legislators dey scared. So, Tinubu don become god wey nobody ready to face and say, ‘Oga, you don do your best. Please go home,'” Momodu tok.
