Länderspielphase no go well at all for Jamal Musiala. Dem expect say the 23-year-old go confirm him rising form for DFB team, but injury catch am before first game against Niederlande, and e go likely miss some FC Bayern games too.
But no be only FC Bayern where him starting spot dey shake. National team too. Especially the number 10 role for midfield center. Florian Wirtz take that role against Serbien and play one correct game, and e send clear statement.
As things stand, no argument dey why Wirtz suppose drop that position. The Liverpool man always best for center, where him strong technique, combination play, creativity and good decision-making fit well. Wetin Wirtz no be, na winger for 4-2-3-1 system.
For national team, he often had to play that winger role because Ilkay Gündogan first, then Jamal Musiala, block the number 10 spot. Klopp now suppose make clear decision: give Wirtz full trust for central offensive position and stop putting am on wing. Na only so dem go use the 23-year-old potential well.
So wetin be Musiala future for national team? Answer simple. If him body and health dey okay, e no be problem to play Musiala on wing. For Wirtz, performance difference between wing and center dey clear. For Musiala, e no too much.
The Bayern star never really be typical number 10. Musiala always come through dribbling and drive to goal more than passing or creative moments. Many times, Musiala dey even find am easier when e come from wide, because space dey and e no dey face three or four opponents wey stand on him feet.
True, you must give Musiala room to drift inside sometimes. But modern football no really get offensive wide players wey glue to line again. Fullbacks dey provide width. Klopp football almost always be like that.
Still, wing position no easy. Top talents Said El Mala and Lennart Karl dey small dip. Karim Adeyemi and Kevin Schade fast but dem get technical deficits. Leroy Sané time look like e dey end, and Serge Gnabry own no go last too long. Chris Führich, Derry Scherhant and Jamie Leweling just good Bundesliga players, no more. Even though Scherhant use him two good games to advertise himself and e still get potential.
A Musiala wey dey somehow stable for form suppose no get problem to hold wing position. Klopp like 4-2-3-1 or 4-3-3. Both systems similar. For him debut as Bundestrainer, people often see 4-3-3 shape.
Germany get luck say plenty strong central midfielders dey. Names like Joshua Kimmich, Aleksandar Pavlovic, Tom Bischof and Felix Nmecha dey. Wirtz and Musiala fit play in front of the midfield three and behind the striker as right and left half-10. Wirtz don already play similar left half-10 role for Leverkusen. Musiala go take right half-10 role.
For that formation, you need fullbacks wey sabi run to give attacking width. You also need to go full ball possession football. Say Klopp go interpret him new system like that, e no likely. The new Bundestrainer want strengthen wings so him Heavy-Metal football with counter-pressing and quick drive to goal go work.
At the end, question Wirtz or Musiala no suppose even dey. If both dey form, both must play. Important thing be say Wirtz must always play central, ideally as number 10 or half-10 or offensive eight, and no be wing. If na 4-3-3 or 4-2-3-1, Musiala must step back and give up him central position for maximum team success.
Meanwhile, record national player Lothar Matthäus advice Florian Wirtz to think about him future because of him current difficult situation for club. Matthäus write for him Sky column say if Liverpool continue to criticize Wirtz and e no bring him playing joy, then at some point all parties must sit down and maybe find solution.
Matthäus talk say clubs for Spanien dey interested, and another club for England, FC Chelsea with Wirtz former coach Xabi Alonso. But e no see Bayern move as realistic. If e look Munich offense, Kane, Olise and Diaz dey set, Musiala and Gnabry get high quality. Dem want extend with Kane and Olise, others dey long-term contract, Saibari just join. E talk say e no know where to put Wirtz now, and e no see short-term way to bring am to FC Bayern.
Wirtz collect heavy criticism for England last weekend after Reds lose 0-3 to FC Chelsea. But Matthäus talk say for national team, Florian Wirtz please am recently. There, him teammates dey look for am, like e be earlier for Leverkusen. For Liverpool, na other players dem dey look for, like Szoboszlai beside am or Isak in front of am.
