Popular comedian and Nollywood actor, Okey Bakassi, don debunk report wey claim say him marriage don collapse. He insist say him and him wife still dey together.
Bakassi call the report wey go viral on social media fake news and attempt to disrespect him and him family.
The report allege say him wife relocate go United States to study nursing, while he remain for Nigeria, dey work and send money support her education for 15 years, before she allegedly ask for divorce.
But the comedian, inside video message, say the claims na entirely false. He explain say the controversy start after one video he make about Nigerian politics was taken out of context and dem give am misleading narrative.
According to him, the false report trigger calls from friends, family members and fans across the world, wey dey seek to confirm the state of him marriage.
He tok say: ‘While I dey on set today filming a new movie with my colleagues, someone dey busy on social media trying to disrespect me and my family.’
He add: ‘Someone go on social media and create article with my name, my picture and that of my wife, alleging say we don go our separate ways.’
He tok say since then, friends, family and fans don dey call him from all over the world, calling him wife with the troubling news.
He beg say: ‘Abeg, make I tell our friends, family and fans say my wife and I still dey together. God forbid say anything go ever happen to us.’
Bakassi describe him wife and children as the most important people in him life. He say the couple recently celebrate their 25th wedding anniversary for Canada.
He also fault the report for claiming say him wife live for United States and na nurse, insist say she live for Canada.
He tok: ‘For Canada, for those wey close to me, you know my wife no dey live for United States, she no be nurse, as the author of that article report.’
The actor further criticise those wey share the report without make effort to verify whether e authentic. He urge friends, family members and fans to report the account responsible for circulating the claims.
He say the incident don show him those wey genuinely care about him. Some people wey come across the report spread am rather than contact him or members of him family for clarification.
Meanwhile, the controversy follow a separate video where Bakassi tok about him voting choices and need for good leadership for Nigeria.
Inside the video, the comedian recount him support for different presidential candidates across political regions, including late Moshood Abiola, former presidents Olusegun Obasanjo and Goodluck Jonathan, late Umaru Musa Yar’Adua, and former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar.
He say him decision to support Peter Obi for 2023 presidential election no be just about balancing political representation among Nigeria regions, but because he consider the former Anambra State governor the best candidate to move the country forward.
Bakassi add say him political preference for 2027 election remain Peter Obi, while acknowledging say Nigerians free to make their own choices.
