Leicester City welcome Peterborough United to King Power Stadium on Saturday. Hosts dey 14th for League One table after seven matches, while Peterborough dey 23rd.
Leicester don make inconsistent start after second consecutive relegation. Russell Martin side don collect nine points from opening seven matches, with two wins, three draws and two defeats. Their last league outing na 1-1 draw away to Barnsley, followed by 6-1 thrashing of Fulham‘s Under-21s and 2-1 defeat to Stevenage for EFL Trophy. Leicester don show attacking quality, scoring in each of last four games across all competitions, but dem fail to keep clean sheet in last five.
Peterborough sit second from bottom with just five points from eight league games. Posh don win once for league and sack head coach Luke Williams after 2-0 defeat to Doncaster Rovers last month. Former Leicester midfielder Robbie Savage replace am for helm and begin reign with emphatic 4-1 victory over Ipswich Under-21s for EFL Trophy. Harry Leonard score twice for that match, while Peterborough race into four-goal lead during impressive first-half display. Savage go now take charge of first league game at King Power Stadium, with Peterborough desperate to pick up second victory.
For live match, Posh dey dreamland but Leicester don play big part in their own downfall, coughing up possession for dangerous areas and failing to defend potent Posh counterattacks. Owura Edwards, Harry Leonard and Warren O’Hora own-goal don put second-bottom Peterborough 3-0 up at break and on verge of going within a point of City. Dem don score seven goals in 8.5 league games this season – three of them for this first half. Russell Martin get work to do, while he still can.
Matt Piper, former Foxes winger on BBC Radio Leicester, talk say Peterborough absolutely school them for that half. Fans don empty stands and you no go blame dem if dem no come back. Don’t take anything away from Peterborough, dem don fantastic. Posh fans chant ‘Sacked in the morning’ to Russell Martin. You do wonder.
Ethan Williams try him luck from distance but him effort cannon off Warren O’Hora and wrongfoot Alex McCarthy to make am 3-0. Posh in dreamland. Leicester lost their last home game 4-0 to Oxford. If possible this one even worse.
Leicester had ball again, but Posh again pinch am back and Bolu Shofowoke – who look like player by the way – manage to wriggle away from trouble and send low cross wey Harry Leonard bundle home. Just him second for league but eighth of season and former Leicester hero Robbie Savage dey a lot happier than fans wey use to support am for Foxes.
Alex McCarthy back in firing line for hosts as he turn away low cross-shot from Ethan Williams at him near post while he also hold onto powerful cross from goalscorer Owura Edwards.
