One senior lecturer for Ambrose Alli University (AAU), Ekpoma, Edo State, Dr Matthew Uwuigbe, don die inside one hotel room after an alleged sexual encounter with one 21-year-old commercial sex worker.
Di incident happen on Sunday, October 5, 2026, for one hotel inside di Mosco area of Ekpoma, Esan West Local Government Area.
Dem talk say Uwuigbe check into di hotel with di woman, wey dem identify as Angela Defa Jacob.
Police talk say he later send her out to go buy water, but when she return, she find am dead on top di bed.
Dem report di matter to police around 8pm.
Di spokesperson for Edo State Police Command, Eno Ikoedem, confirm di incident and say three people don dey arrested in connection with di case.
She talk say, ‘On October 5, 2026, around 8pm, di command receive report say Matthew Uwuigbe, one lecturer at Ambrose Alli University, Ekpoma, lodge for one hotel inside Ekpoma and engage di services of one 21-year-old sex worker, Angela Defa Jacob.’
She add, ‘He subsequently send di woman to purchase water for him, and upon her return, she find am lying dead inside di room.’
Ikoedem talk say di hotel owner, manager and di sex worker dey inside police custody while investigation continue.
She also add say dem don deposit Uwuigbe remains for Oriaifo Memorial Hospital mortuary.
Meanwhile, di AAU Public Relations Officer, Otunba Mike Ade Aladenika, confirm say Uwuigbe be staff member of di university but talk say di incident happen outside di institution.
He talk say, ‘We no dey deny say he be our staff, but whatever he do and wetin happen, na him private life. Di girl in question no be our student, and everything happen outside our institution.’
