Valve new VRS rule: Sashi dual citizenship na final straw, Lemke talk

SavageTech CEO and BIG and MOUZ co-founder Tom J. Lemke don talk say the move wey Sashi try make to enter Asian VRS na im be the final trigger for the new restriction wey Valve put on regional assignments.

Lemke yarn say Valve specifically point to dual citizenship when dem explain why dem add the rule. He tok say he speak with Valve after dem update Major Supplemental Rulebook, and na there he get explanation for why the timing change.

“After speaking with Valve they explained to me that @Sashi_Esport was the straw that broke the camel’s back, specifically the dual citizenship. Crazy,” Lemke write.

Valve never publicly name Sashi as reason for the update. So the statement na account wey Lemke give after private conversation with Valve, no be official public explanation.

Sashi temporarily add Australian players Tynan “TjP” Purtell and Jordan “Hatz” Bajic on October 5. Dat move na part of attempt to improve chances to qualify for PGL Singapore Major 2026 through Asian VRS. Together with Anton “Anlelele” Huynh, who get Vietnamese citizenship, the changes give the roster three players eligible for Asian region. Mikkel “MistR” Thomsen and Casper “Cabbi” Jensen step out of active lineup during the move.

The changes land during final weeks before Major invitation cutoff. The plan for Sashi na to leave European VRS race and compete for Major invitation through Asian regional ranking. Valve later add new restriction to Regional Assignment section of Major Supplemental Rulebook.

“A roster is only eligible for a Regional Assignment if they did not appear in any other region’s VRS list in the preceding three calendar months,” the rule tok.

The rule stop roster from appearing for one regional VRS list and then immediately receiving assignment in another region during same Major qualification period. The change block Sashi planned Asian route because the roster already appear for European VRS during preceding three calendar months.

BC.Game also affected after moving from Europe into Asian ranking. Unlike Sashi, BC.Game don already complete enough ranked matches to appear near top of Asian VRS before restriction come in.

The update remove possibility of using late roster changes to immediately enter another regional Major race. Timing matter well well ahead of PGL Singapore Major 2026, with invitations determined through separate regional VRS lists for Europe, Americas and Asia.

According to Lemke, the situation involving Sashi and dual citizenship na the case wey push Valve to act. Valve never publicly confirm that explanation.
