Reports from Spain dey talk say Marc Bernal still be one of Barça biggest future bets, but him situation fit hard small as Frenkie de Jong dey return. Hansi Flick value the canterano well well, and inside club dem see am as player wey get conditions to become midfield reference for many years.
Problem na competition. With Rodri as starter and Frenkie almost available, minutes for Bernal fit reduce well well. Bernal don gain weight because him sabi play as pivot, arrange ball from back and give physical presence wey team need. Him evolution convince coaching staff, and Barça never get intention to put am for market. Na opposite.
But De Jong return fit change minute sharing. E fit leave the young man for more complicated position, even behind the Dutchman as alternative to Rodri. Na there Atlético de Madrid enter. Diego Simeone don show interest before and e still dey like Bernal profile. The Argentine dey find midfielders wey strong, tactically disciplined and fit hold demanding games. If e notice say the young man don dey get less protagonism, e go ask sporting direction rojiblanca to move.
Atlético know say to convince Barça go hard. Bernal no dey for sale and Flick see am as important future piece. But market dey change when young player feel say him progress dey slow. If e move from regular minutes like now to third option, Simeone fit try use any sign of discontent to bring am close to Metropolitano.
De Jong return with need to recover rhythm and protagonism. Flick trust him level, so e go need minutes to return am to best. That leave Bernal for uncomfortable position: e fit still be untouchable for long term, but at same time e fit lose immediate space inside rotation. Barça no want lose am and any movement go face huge resistance. But Simeone don know wetin to expect: if Bernal start to feel relegated, Atlético go call. For Barça, priority na to avoid exactly that and show am say even with more competition, e still be central piece of project.
Another report talk say Simeone want start prepare Atlético Madrid midfield future and e don put Marc Bernal name on table. The Argentine coach believe say the Barça canterano get conditions to become natural replacement for Koke, especially because e sabi play in front of defence, order build-up and hold team from central position.
For Atleti, dem know say operation dey very complicated. Marc Bernal na one of young players Hansi Flick rate pass and Barça see am as important future piece. But Simeone want club explore possibility and know wetin conditions go be to open negotiation. Koke still get weight inside team, but Atlético need start think about progressive transition. Player like Bernal give youth, physical, tactical reading and ball output wey go let rojiblanco side get clarity for first phases of each play.
Simeone also value say e fit act as single pivot or with another midfielder. That versatility go let am adapt to different drawings and grow without carrying all responsibility from first day. Main obstacle dey Barcelona. Flick get plenty confidence in Bernal and believe say e fit become one of most important midfielders for project. Him growth don increase internal competition and change hierarchy for position wey before get fewer alternatives.
So Barça no get any need to sell. For Atlético Madrid to even sit down negotiate, dem go present very important proposal and convince the player say Madrid get clearer path to starting shirt. Simeone still want try. E understand say to find young mediocentro with elite football experience and capacity to assume responsibility from behind no easy. Atleti dey think about Koke replacement before the need become urgent. For Simeone, Marc Bernal get many of conditions e dey find. But problem na say for Barça, dem think exactly same thing about him future and dem no get intention to facilitate him exit.
