Flood don kill one 35-year-old man, Ibrahim Mandella, for Adehun area of Ado-Ekiti, Ekiti State, after water sweep am away. The incident happen as heavy rainfall cause flooding for several parts of the city. Two commercial motorcyclists also reportedly swept away by flood at Elemi River in Ado-Ekiti.
Mandella na native of Zacaba Local Government Area of Kebbi State. Report say he dey return home after work around Ijero when the incident occur. According to family, he stop at car wash in Adehun during the heavy downpour before him wife, Favour Mary, call am and urge am make he return home.
His brother, Dauda Daniel, say Mandella tell people around am say he fit cross the flood. But water carry am away while he dey try cross under a narrow bridge. Dem later find his remains opposite the highway near Mountain of Fire and Miracles Ministries junction in Adehun.
Favour, him wife, recount her last conversation with her husband. She say she speak with Mandella two times around 10:45pm. He assure her say he go return home shortly. According to her, Mandella also send N4,500 for dinner before she go bed with their two children. She say she wake around 4am and discover say her husband never return.
The incident leave the family devastated, especially as Mandella reportedly dey work in the area before him death.
Meanwhile, two commercial motorcyclists also reportedly swept away by flood at Elemi River in Ado-Ekiti. Details about their identities and whether rescue teams don locate them no dey immediately available as of the time of filing this report.
Flooding also reported around Ayemi Garage Bridge, adjacent to Midas Hotel, along Ekiti State University Road. Floodwater cover parts of the area.
