Revolutionary Socialist Movement, RSM, don demand say make government do full, transparent and independent investigation into how 37 suspected miners take die while dem dey Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC custody for Minna, Niger State.
The group, for one statement wey SaharaReporters see on Monday, talk say dem dey grieve well well and vex about the deaths, and dem call for accountability for anybody wey dem find say responsible for the incident.

According to RSM, dem arrest the victims during operations against suspected illegal mining activities on September 15 and 16, 2026, and later detain dem for one NSCDC facility for Minna. Dem discover the deaths on September 17.
The group talk say authorities never establish the exact cause of the deaths, but e add say Federal Government don set up independent investigation into the incident.
RSM talk say death of 37 people while dem dey state custody na extremely serious matter wey no fit be treated like ordinary security incident.
E argue say once dem arrest people and put dem for government custody, the state don carry responsibility for their safety and welfare.
The group talk say no allegation of illegal mining fit justify neglect, inhuman treatment or loss of life in detention.
RSM also raise concerns over the conditions wey the detainees dey held. E talk say Niger State governor disclose say dem detain 67 people for the cell before 37 of them die.
According to the group, possible explanations wey dem dey investigate include overcrowding, suffocation and exposure to hazardous substances associated with mining.
RSM note say NSCDC initially refer to suspected disease outbreak, but talk say the actual cause of death still dey subject to investigation. E talk say this make transparent, independent and credible investigation necessary.
The group later outline six demands, including comprehensive investigation into the circumstances surrounding the arrests, detention conditions, medical care wey dem provide to the detainees and events immediately before their deaths.
E also demand full accountability for anybody wey dem find responsible through negligence, misconduct, abuse of authority or any other unlawful conduct. RSM talk say no officer or public official suppose shield because of their position.
The group further call for protection and preservation of evidence wey go help investigators know wetin happen. E specifically demand say detention records, CCTV footage where e dey available, medical records, duty logs and other relevant evidence must preserve and make available to investigators.
RSM also demand justice and appropriate compensation for families of the deceased. E talk say the families must dey properly informed about wetin happen to their loved ones and dem no suppose leave dem to struggle alone for answers.
The group acknowledge steps wey Federal Government don announce in response to the deaths, including constitution of independent 10-member investigative committee and suspension of NSCDC Niger State Commandant and other officers pending investigation.
But RSM talk say the measures go only meaningful if dem allow the investigation to operate independently and make its findings public. E talk say suspension alone no be justice, the investigation must genuinely independent, findings must dey public, and anybody wey culpable must face appropriate legal consequences.
RSM also extend solidarity and condolences to families and communities wey dey mourn the victims.
