Cracks Show For Wike Rainbow Coalition As Labour Party, South-East APC Push Back

Di Rainbow Coalition wey FCT Minister Nyesom Wike found to support President Bola Tinubu re-election by working with other parties and sharing other elective positions dey face more challenges as more people don disown di arrangement.

But chieftains of Labour Party for Rivers State talk say di people wey di coalition dey deal with no be Labour Party members; dem belong to Labour Union. Dem insist say di authentic Labour Party for Rivers no dey represented inside di coalition.

Former South-South Zonal Vice Chairman of Labour Party, Mr Favour Reuben, say he no dey part of di coalition. He allege say di Labour Party governorship candidate wey di coalition recognize na PDP member.

Political analyst and Ogoni rights activist, Dr Celestine Akpobari, criticize di coalition as non-inclusive. He say e favour only Ikwerre ethnic nationality. ‘I never see rainbow wey get one colour. APC chairman na Ikwerre, PDP chairman na Ikwerre, governorship candidates of APC, PDP and Labour na all Ikwerre. Where di rainbow dey?’ he ask.

He argue say if power move from Governor Fubara wey come from Rivers South-East, e suppose go to Ogoni people wey never produce governor, deputy governor, Speaker or Chief Judge. ‘A rainbow coalition no fit get one colour,’ he talk, and describe di situation as dictatorship.

A Rivers APC chieftain and coalition member, wey speak on condition of anonymity, talk say di alliance don already take control of di state. ‘All di local government chairmen na members of dis coalition, councillors for all di wards na members, Governor Siminalayi Fubara and him supporters don return to di coalition. Who remain for other parties wey brag about taking over Rivers in 2027?’ he talk.

Former President of Ijaw Youth Council (IYC) Worldwide and 2023 Labour Party governorship candidate for Bayelsa, Engr. Udengs Eradiri, however describe Wike Rainbow Coalition as major asset wey fit deliver bulk votes for Tinubu in 2027.

Eradiri talk say di coalition cut across political interests and e suppose be seen as added advantage to Tinubu re-election, not threat to APC governors. ‘Wike and him Rainbow Coalition suppose be seen as added advantage to Tinubu re-election because dem form am solely to work for Mr President and not to advance interest of any governor,’ he talk.
