Di suspect, wey be resident of Apata, dem arrest am around 8 a.m. on Saturday after intelligence reach command concerning him alleged involvement in di illicit drug trade.
For statement wey police give journalists on Sunday, Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Olayinka Ayanlade, talk say di arrest follow targeted surveillance operation wey operatives attached to Iyaganku Area Command conduct.
According to di statement, ‘Acting on di intelligence, surveillance operatives of di Iyaganku Area Command commence targeted surveillance operations which culminate in di arrest of di suspect.’
Police talk say dem recover quantities of dry leaves suspected to be Indian hemp, a white crystalline substance suspected to be methamphetamine and other suspected illicit drugs from di suspect during di operation.
Di command talk say di suspect remain for police custody and dey cooperate with investigators as preliminary investigations continue to determine di source of di suspected drugs and establish di extent of him alleged involvement in di trade.

Olugbenga describe illicit drugs as ‘a significant catalyst for various forms of crime and criminality,’ stressing say di command go continue to target di supply chains through which such substances reach criminal elements and vulnerable members of society.
‘The Command will continue to work assiduously to identify and disrupt the supply chains of catalytic elements of crime, particularly illicit drugs, while strengthening intelligence-led policing and proactive operations across the state,’ he talk.
