The National Film and Video Censors Board (NFVCB) don announce say dem go take regulatory action against the producers of “Living in Colors” because the film no get classification from the board. The film wey dem plan to show for public premiere, but according to the board, e no submit for vetting.
Inside statement wey the NFVCB Chief Executive Officer, Dr Shaib Husseini, release, the board talk say dem dey worry about the premiere of this film. The board say the film no carry any classification mark, meaning the public exhibition or promotion of am for Nigeria dey illegal under the regulatory framework wey dey ground.
“Living in Colors” na film wey dey explore the lives of five young flatmates wey dey live inside Lagos. Dem dey try navigate life as queer individuals. But the trailer wey dey online don catch the attention of the board, and dem no happy with wetin dem see.
Husseini talk say although e never watch the full film, the trailer wey e see contain wetin e call “explicit pornography” and “promotion of same-sex relationships.” This one make the board decide to take action, because the film no get any classification from NFVCB.
