Police Don Arrest Man For Kebbi Over Qur’an Desecration And Fetish Ritual

Kebbi State Police don arrest one 29-year-old man wey im name na Abubakar Musa, over alleged desecration of the Qur’an and involvement in fetish ritual for Zuru Local Government Area.

Musa wey be resident of Rafin Mose Village for Zuru, na so dem arrest am following one incident wey happen for Zango area of the town on August 9, 2026, at about 7pm.

According to statement wey command’s Police Public Relations Officer, Bashir Usman, release on Friday, preliminary investigation link Musa to two other suspects, Rabi’u Tela wey be husband of Zarau Hassan, and Hamza Zango, wey dey at large.

The command say the suspects allegedly dig pit inside Hassan’s room, bury copy of Qur’an along with semen, white and red kolanuts, underwear, dead animals and other items wey police describe as fetish materials.

Police also allege say the act na to make Hassan “more submissive to her husband, Rabi’u Tela.”

The command say the incident fit don cause breach of peace among Muslim residents for the area.

Musa dey under investigation for alleged criminal conspiracy, abuse of religious books, use of spells and hypnosis, and inciting disturbance.

The command say dem dey try to arrest Tela and Zango, while Musa go face court after investigation finish.

Kebbi State Commissioner of Police, Umar Hadejia, condemn the alleged act and warn against actions wey fit threaten religious harmony and public order.

Hadejia say “The command will deal decisively, within the law, with individuals whose actions threaten religious harmony, public order, and peaceful coexistence.”

Police say investigation still dey go on, and dem go continue to apprehend remaining suspects before court case.
