Di new Spider-Man film wey dem call Brand New Day don hit cinemas, and e dey set to be di biggest film for 2026 so far. But as di box office dey sweet, some fans dey argue say Tom Holland‘s Peter Parker don dey run out of web.
Di film, wey Destin Daniel Cretton direct, pick up four years after di events of No Way Home. Peter Parker don isolate himself from everybody, even MJ and Ned wey don forget say e dey exist. E dey live alone for attic, only dey talk to computer.
But di problem be say di franchise no gree let di character grow. Holland don play Spider-Man for four solo films, but e still dey do di same tongue-tied, lovelorn act wey e do since beginning. Critics dey say e need to mature or hand over to younger actor.
Di film get plenty action, including fight with Hulk and Punisher. But some fans dey feel say di story no move forward. Di director try to give Peter internal life, but e still fall back on old beats from Sam Raimi era.
One bright side na Sadie Sink as di mysterious villain, wey dey deliver strong performance. But even she dey draw attention away from Peter. Di film dey overlong at two and half hours, and di main conflict dey feel like retread.
With Tom Holland now 30 years old, time don come for Spider-Man to change. If di writers no get courage to let am grow up, maybe e better for am to hang up di costume and let new actor take over.
